Electric Vehicle Society would like to recognize the Global Climate Strike happening this week and culminating in a large number of actions planned for this Friday (Sep 27) throughout the world. EV owners in Ontario are very familiar with the numerous benefits that come with driving an electric vehicle, however a very important benefit is the significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) achieved. Although EVs are only one piece of the puzzle when it comes to reducing global emissions, switching from gasoline to electric transportation is one of the largest single steps an individual can take to reduce their carbon footprint. Here in Ontario, driving a battery only EV results in a net emissions reduction of approximately 90% compared with a similar gasoline car.
EV Society is in support of the Global Climate Strike and hopes many of our members will attend an action near them. To find an action near you, visit:
Our members have already taken an important step and should be proud of that, however there is still much more to be done.
EV Society would also like to remind people that the best transportation options for the environment do not involve a personal vehicle at all. Public transportation, biking, and walking are much better alternatives. But when you must drive, choose electric.
