Angie Thomas

Angie ThomasAs a seasoned Executive Assistant with over 15 years of experience, I bring a proven track record of providing exceptional support to senior executives across diverse, growth-oriented organizations. My expertise spans multiple industries and is underscored by a talent for adaptability, operational efficiency, and process optimization.

My journey into the world of electric vehicles began in 2022 when I attended several EV-focused events with my first electric vehicle. Inspired by the community and its mission, I joined the Electric Vehicle Association of Alberta (EVAA) Board in June 2023, recognizing an opportunity to leverage my administrative expertise to make a meaningful impact. Currently serving as Secretary for EVAA, I have greatly enjoyed contributing to the organization’s success and advancing its goals.

Beyond my formal role, I am passionate about increasing awareness and understanding of electric vehicles. I actively engage with friends, family, and my community to address misconceptions and share the benefits of EV adoption. With a strong aptitude for organization, multitasking, and fostering collaboration, I am confident these skills will be instrumental in driving success in the EVS Secretary role.

I am deeply committed to the EV cause and am eager to bring my administrative acumen, dedication, and passion to a broader audience, contributing to the advancement of sustainable transportation and education on a larger scale.

Brody Hodgson

Brody HodgsonI am an EV enthusiast, both as a driver and from working in the industry for the last 5 years with On the Run Charging. Having worked for a leading Canadian Retail and fuels company, EV Charging originally a side of the desk project / idea for me back in 2020, which has since transformed into a full business with ambitious plans to expand our network across the country. I have been involved with everything across the business as it has been built, from charging technology selection, network planning, site design, operations and maintenance, securing funding, development of our technology platform, and business development / partnerships. On the Run Charging has been involved with EVS on a variety of fronts, especially when it comes to outreach to local chapters as we build out our charging network to engage the local customers, collect feedback and test some of our latest technology.

I want to join the EV Society as a Director as I believe in the mission to educate the public on the benefits of electric transportation and advocate for further collaboration in the industry to overcome barriers. I believe I can bring a unique perspective having worked previously in the Retail Fuels industry and being based in the Prairies where EV adoption is lagging the rest of Canada. I have a national role with On the Run Charging however, and interact with a ton of stakeholders within municipalities, utility companies and other organizations to share lessons learned and advocate for change. That said, I am sometimes constrained through my organization as to what I can communicate and share to the public when it comes to my perspectives and advocacy for electric vehicles, and the EVS is a great channel for me to share everything I have to offer to the industry.

From an education and advocacy perspective, I have a number of ideas and or initiatives that I would love to pursue that can help the industry, including but not limited to:

Education for EV Customers:

  • EV model availability in Canada (current and future planned)
  • Total cost of ownership for EV’s and considerations for potential buyers
  • EV charging curves for various EV models (one of the largest pieces of feedback I hear as a CPO from new customers who do not fully why they aren’t charging at maximum rates advertised)
  • Public charging network growth and accessibility

Education and Advocacy for the Industry:

  • Collaboration with EV drivers, municipalities, utilities, and CPOs
  • EV customer surveys on ownership of EVs and charging experiences (including differences for EVS members and non-member EV users)
  • Policy impacts on EV adoption and charging infrastructure
  • Electrical grid capacity maps to support CPOs, utility companies and government agencies (e.g., Toronto Hydro released this recently which has been extremely helpful for CPOs and is much needed for other jurisdictions)
  • EV adoption at the granular level via registration data (most data is only reported and limited to the provincial level and major urban centers)

Currie Gardner

I have been an avid EV owner since 2012 and an early member of the EV Society.

I have owned three EVs (Tesla & BMW) and supported a number of EV organizations since 2012. My Tesla Model S was even on display at the international Auto Show in Toronto in 2013 and I attended many other car shows, promoting EVs, in the past when EVs were still “very new”.

I was a Professional Electrical Engineer (Retired) with more than 40 years of hands-on experience in most areas of Control Systems, Software and Instrumentation.  Areas of specialization include project management, systems integration of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), operator interface systems (HMIs) and SCADA in the manufacturing, material handling, petroleum and process industries.  I have significant experience with; Airport Baggage Handling Systems, Food & Beverage, Gas Compressor Stations, Custom Machinery and Manufacturing projects ranging from small to multi-million-dollar projects.

I feel with my varied professional experience, people skills and especially with my long time EV ownership and many long EV road trips, I have a lot to offer the EV Society, now that I am retired, and can help with the ongoing and future direction of the EV Society.

I have been involved with the Tesla Owners Club of British Columbia since 2018/19 in various capacities and currently am the President.
