The event with the Town of Caledon in early July was a good success. We had great media coverage from the local Caledon Citizen Newspaper to help push turnout. An estimated 200 people came thru over the day and a great turnout of EVS members and vehicles, along with some OEMs including:
- The first public appearance of GM Cadillac LYRIQ - Not one, but two F150 Lightning Pickups - BMW brought a new iX SUV - Kenneth Bokor brought a brand new rare Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 - EVNetwork came with some pre-owned EVs - Plug'N Drive came with 3 EVs and provided over 50 test drives - Had some E-bikes represented by a couple of vendors - and some sustainability representation from Eco-Caledon and the Town of Caledon

PAST EVENT: Mississauga Chapter
EV Society Mississauga Chapter in conjunction with Rechie Valdez, MP for Mississauga Streetsville, brought volunteers out for the first annual Block Party to showcase a range of electric vehicles to the public. The crowd assembled was pleased to hear from the Honourable Omar Alghabra, Federal Minister of Transportation, who was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Mississauga Centre. In addition to a range of Tesla vehicles, Bolts, & Leafs on display, highlights included a chance to view the new Ford F-150 Lightning and Kia EV6. Adding to the fun, attendees watched while the bidirectional capable Kia powered the event's sound system and the Ford Lightning kept a 'bouncy castle' inflated and moving.

Tim Burrows, Getting Canadians Talking About Electric Cars
If you’ve ever tuned into EV Society’s “Canada Talks Electric Cars” webinar series, you’ll know one of our local celebrities – Tim Burrows. He’s not only the producer of the wildly popular webinar, he’s also the suave host and a long-time advocate for EVs. A year before Tim retired as Vice President of Forty Creek Distillery, he ventured boldly into the world of EVs in 2013. While EVs were still a novelty in those early days, Tim was forward thinking and decided to buy a Tesla Model S, and later a Tesla Model X. He brought his Teslas to a variety of classic car shows around southern Ontario, where he interacted and answered a lot of questions from car owners and the general public. Since 2013, Tim has logged well over 275,000 kms on his EVs. Even apart from his involvement with EV Society, Tim has also been an active public speaker promoting EVs since 2017, personally educating Canadians though his own “Tim Talks Tesla & EVs” series. He has conducted over 150 EV talks and reaching an audience of well over 8,000 people, including those from service clubs, community groups, car clubs, schools, and church gatherings. Today, Tim serves on EV Society’s Board of Directors and produces the “Canada Talks Electric Cars” webinar series. Now in its third year, the monthly webinar series has aired 27 regular episodes and several special episodes. The webinar has enjoyed over 3,500 live views in addition to 15,000 views and 229,000 impressions on its YouTube channel. Tim’s high profile guests are from all aspects of the EV industry, from automakers, non-profits, charging infrastructure, policy makers, researchers, utilities, to well known industry experts like Sandy Munro. EV Society congratulates and celebrates Tim’s ongoing success in getting Canadians to talk more about Electric Cars. Know an EV Ambassador who we can feature in EV Society’s newsletter? How should Canada organize itself to take advantage of this momentum? Matthew Fortier, President and CEO of the Accelerate Alliance, will discuss why it is important to determine what success looks like for Canada's ZEV industry and what it might take to achieve that success. Accelerate represents key public and private-sector stakeholders in Canada’s Zero-Emission Vehicle supply chain. Accelerate is a national alliance with a mandate to organize and align Canada’s ZEV supply chain to ensure its growth and success.
