EVS & ChargeHub Photo Contest
We are excited to announce a new campaign that we believe will make a real difference in the future of low-carbon transportation. As you know, the federal government is working to expand EV charging infrastructure across Canada. However, to ensure that the network is equitable, accessible, and reliable for everyone, there are some important areas that need to be addressed. That's why we've partnered with ChargeHub to make a difference in EV owners' charging experience.
The objective of our new campaign is simple: we want to engage EV Society members in uploading photos of charging stations across Canada through the ChargeHub app. By doing so, you'll be helping to build the stage for the future of low-carbon transportation.
ChargeHub is a platform that aggregates all the electric vehicle charging stations in Canada and the United States all in one place. ChargeHub helps EV drivers find all public charging stations and pay for their charging with a single account on more than 75 000 charging stations. By simplifying charging for EV drivers, ChargeHub contributes to accelerating EV adoption, and with your help, we can make sure that the information on ChargeHub is as accurate and up-to-date as possible. The best part; we have prizes to give away each month for all EV Society members who participate. For each site photo(s) submitted and approved by ChargeHub, you’ll receive a ticket for the monthly draw. The more photos you submit, the higher your chances of winning. And with these prizes, you’ll be enjoying all your Summer road trips at no extra cost!
Each month there will be three draws announced in the second week of the month.
1. $200 ChargeHub charging credit plus a two year ChargeHub Passport Membership (valued at $50).
2. $100 ChargeHub charging credit plus a two year ChargeHub Passport Membership (valued at $50).
3. One-Year membership to EV Society (valued at $50 to put towards your next membership).
The Grand Prize will be awarded to the top three EV Society members who have the highest number of eligible photos uploaded.
1. $500 ChargeHub charging credit plus a two year ChargeHub Passport Membership (valued at $50).
2. $500 Amazon gift card
3. One Yet-E-Boot Charge Port Protector premium package (valued at $150 shipped to you anywhere in Canada).
Join us today and help build the future of low-carbon transportation! By working together, we can create a more equitable, accessible, and reliable EV charging network across Canada.

EV Society has now been included in the national ZEV council.
Objective: The ZEV landscape in Canada has progressed significantly over the last five years. With Canada’s 2030 Emission Reduction Plan having set ambitious ZEV sales/deployment targets, the Government is now firmly in implementation mode with respect to key measures to accelerate ZEV adoption and bolster ZEV-related economic opportunities. Now is an opportune time to institute a ZEV Council, with the objective of working collaboratively to address opportunities and challenges to increase ZEV adoption and inform implementation measures and improve customer experience as a complementary means to ensuring Canada meets its ZEV sales targets.
The ZEV Council will:
➢ Re-establish an ongoing and collaborative forum for governments and stakeholders to regularly engage on ZEVs;
➢ Prioritize collaboratively 3-4 topics each year that warrant deeper-dive analysis /discussions into barriers and challenges to implementation; and
➢ Identify solutions and help inform the implementation of measures for all levels of government.
We will be invited to meetings going forward, and we are also included in the working group relating to ZEV education and awareness but have the ability to participate in any groups that peak our interest.

Pollution Probe 2023 EV Charging Experience Survey
Pollution Probe is leading a project to better understand the real-world charging experiences of electric vehicle (EV) owners in Canada. The project includes a 2023 survey which will identify strengths and weaknesses of the existing public charging network to help inform policies and priority-setting related to public EV charging across Canada. This survey builds upon and extends a similar survey conducted by Pollution Probe in 2021-22.
A robust, efficient and accessible public charging network that meets the needs of EV owners will be critical to helping Canada meet its target of 100% passenger EV sales by 2035 and contributing to its climate commitments.
Pollution Probe is excited to have launched the 2023 survey!
We invite you to share survey links with anyone in your personal or professional networks who may be interested, and with any EV owners you know.

Ontario EV User Research
The Policy Innovation Hub, an in-house consulting team in the Cabinet Office at the Government of Ontario, is working with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) to conduct user research with electric vehicle (EV) consumers and commercial light-duty fleet operators to understand user needs, concerns, and preferences to inform MTO’s policy work on electric vehicles and charging infrastructure. We are reaching out to EV advocacy groups in Ontario to see if any of your members would be interested in participating in this user research study.
The Policy Innovation Hub is looking for current EV owners, prospective EV owners, businesses that operate commercial light-duty fleets, and businesses that do not have EVs in their fleet. Through interviews, we want to better understand the end-to-end journey of EV ownership for consumers and fleet businesses and identify challenges and opportunities to improve EV uptake in Ontario.
The interview will take approximately 45 to 60 minutes and will be done virtually via MS Teams in June 2023. Selected volunteers will receive a $60 gift card.
If you are interested in participating, kindly complete this survey by Monday, May 29, 2023. If you have any questions about this research or require further accommodation to complete this survey, please email policyinnovation@ontario.ca.

EPS: 37, DC Fast Charging, More Than Just a Plug Scott Sharabura - Parkland
We've all come to take the 'gas station' experience for granted... restrooms, snack bars, good lighting and safety are almost always present. With the race to expand charging in Canada, some of these considerations have perhaps been neglected or under valued. Considering that an EV refuelling session still takes longer than a gas fill-up, some amenities are even more critical to ensure a good customer experience.
Join us on our next episode to hear from Scott Sharabura, VP of Electric Vehicle Charging for Parkland Corporation. Scott brings 25 years of experience in the energy sector and is focused on bringing EV charging solutions to retail and commercial customers.
Under Scott's leadership, Parkland has opened 27 DC fast charging stations, and will reach 50 by the end of 2023.
In his previous role as VP Strategy, Scott led the development of an energy transition strategy for Parkland, focusing on how Parkland can diversify its business and help its customers to decarbonize, including EV charging, solar energy and the provision of carbon offsets.

Spreading EV Culture to the Next Generation
It has been amazing over the past 20 years to see the evolution of electric vehicles from “Who Killed the Electric Car?” to EVs on an unstoppable trajectory of adoption, limited only by the ability of the automotive industry to produce more of them. What is lagging is the spread of EV culture across the arts generally, although this too is evolving. Recently an acquaintance of mine (Paul Shore) approached me with his co-authored children’s book (target age 6-12) called “Steve and Eve Save the Planet”. It was published in February 2023. It’s an easy read and its playful, delightful, positive interaction between Polar Bear Steve and EV Eve is something you might like to consider for the children in your lives. Spread the word to the members of your association?
